The sun set on the Sunset Symphony last year when the Memorial Day concert ended its 39-year run as the closing event for Memphis in May (MIM). This week, Memphis in May announced the symphony’s replacement event — 901Fest, a celebration of all things local. Thursday's fatal shooting of a 20-year-old store clerk shot during a robbery marked the 33rd homicide in the city this year.
